After admission, once you have decided who you would like to be your research advisor, you can have an interview with that instructor once arrangements have been made. To request an instructor interview, telephone or e-mail the Administration Bureau to inform them of your desire for an interview.

The Graduate School of Medicine offers a master’s course (standard 2-year course that grants a Master’s of Medicine degree upon completion) and a doctoral course (a standard 4-year course that grants a Doctor of Medicine degree upon completion).
In addition to classroom instruction, the Graduate School of Medicine deems it important to place students in a laboratory of their choice where they can receive research guidance. Before applying, the student should contact instructors they may want to serve as their research advisor to discuss the education and research the student wants to pursue for their degree and then decide who they want to serve as their research advisor.
In addition, the TOEIC is now being used as part of the admission examination for the Graduate School of Medicine. Prospective applicants must receive a TOEIC score that surpasses the required minimum score set by the Graduate School of Medicine before applying to the school. Therefore, you must take the TOEIC test before applying.
■Master’s Course (General Examination)
1. Number of Students Accepted
(Total number of students to be accepted through 1st and 2nd entrance examinations)
The number of students to be accepted shall include one student who is admitted through special admissions for students eligible for exemption of student fees. Applicants for special admissions for students eligible for exemption of student fees shall take the first entrance examination. However, if the number of successful applicants falls below a minimum threshold, the University may conduct an additional entrance examination for applicants for special admissions

2. Application Qualifications
Applicants must meet any of the following conditions from (1) through (6).
(1) Persons who have graduated from a university or college or who are expected to graduate.
(2) Persons who have been granted a bachelor’s degree by the National Institution for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation(NIAD-UE).
(3) Persons who have completed a 16-year program of education in a country other than Japan or who expect to complete such a (1)program.
(4) Persons who have been designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in accordance with Notification No. 5 issued by the Ministry of Education in 1953.
(5) Persons who have been granted advanced diploma status after completing a specialist course at a vocational school.
(6) Persons who are recognized by Jichi Medical University Graduate School of Medicine as having abilities equivalent to or higher than those described in (1) to (5) above.
■Doctoral Course (General Examination)

2.Application Qualifications
(1) Persons who have graduated or are expected to graduate from a university (i.e. either a graduate of a school of medicine, a school of dentistry, a six-year course of veterinary science, or a six-year course of pharmacy).
(2) Persons who have completed an 18-year program of education (the last course must be in medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, or pharmacy) in a country other than Japan or who are expected to complete such a program.
(3) Persons who have been designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in accordance with Notification No. 39 issued by the Ministry of Education in 1955.
(4) Persons who are recognized by the Jichi Medical University Graduate School of Medicine as having abilities equivalent to or higher than those described in (1) to (3) above.
【 Master's Course 】
In addition to the above, Working Adult Graduate Course seeks individuals who are motivated to carry out research while working in industry, government, or other sectors.
In order to achieve their educational goals, the Graduate School of Medicine seeks students who:
・Are motivated to become researchers and educators who will engage in research in the medical sciences from new perspectives.
・Are motivated to contribute to medicine and healthcare as highly specialized personnel and healthcare practitioners by acquiring expertise at the forefront of the profession.
・Have the requisite English-language ability to understand English articles.
・Have the wide-ranging basic academic ability and basic knowledge in their desired field of specialization necessary for studying from the perspective of the medical sciences.
・Possess the high ethical standards and clear sense of purpose necessary for medical research.
In
addition to the above, Working Adult Graduate Course seeks individuals who are
motivated to carry out research while working in industry, government, or other
sectors.
【 Doctoral Course 】
In order to achieve their educational goals, the Graduate School of Medicine seeks students who:
・Are motivated to contribute to developments in medicine and healthcare that will lead to improvements to local healthcare.
・Have an interest in and aptitude for advanced medical research and a motivation to pioneer new directions in the fields of medicine, healthcare, and the life sciences.
・Are motivated to train the next generation of leading medical professionals.
・Possess English-language literacy sufficient to write a dissertation, as well as the ability to carry on conversations in English.
・Have the basic knowledge and practical ability necessary to conduct research in the fields of medicine, healthcare, and the life sciences.
・Possess the high ethical standards and clear sense of purpose necessary for medical research.
In addition to the above, the Professional Graduate Course seeks individuals who are motivated to carry out research while working in medical settings.
TOEIC IP test will be held at the Jichi Medical University with the schedule below.
If you would like to take the exam, please contact the Graduate School of Medicine ( Email address : graduate@jichi.ac.jp ) and bring the exam fee (4,230 yen) on the exam day.
Application deadline: 1 week before the test
We require TOEIC, TOEFL iBT, or IELTS scores as part of the application documents.
